Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (CAP/ADID) have been working for some time to install new traffic signals along Peachtree Street at the existing Walton Street and Poplar Street crosswalks. This improvement project includes new traffic signals, pedestrian signals with countdown timers, sidewalk ramp improvements to ensure access at both intersections and improved crosswalk markings.
CAP/ADID has contracted with Wright Brown Electric for the implementation of the project. Wright Brown Electric is expecting the delivery of the traffic signal materials during mid February. In preparation for the installation, they will soon begin work in the right of way including minor sidewalk demolition in isolated areas to install pole foundations. This work will be limited to the areas immediately around the Peachtree Street and Walton Street intersection and the Peachtree Street and Poplar Street crossing. Wright Brown Electric and their contractors will maintain pedestrian access and minimize traffic delays at all times during their work; however, inconveniences for short periods of time could occur.
If you have any questions about the project or concerns about the construction activity, please contact Jennifer Ball at jball@centralatlantaprogress.org
