ADNA Members:
At several meetings we have discussed the importance of on-street
parking to our neighborhood. On-street parking's benefits
are numerous, including calming traffic, providing short-term
retail patron spaces and serving as loading for residents.
Surprisingly enough, there is no overall master plan for managing
this important resource downtown. The City removes parking
at whim at the request of adjacent property owners, but fails
to recognize the value of this public facility. This has been
particularly challenging in Fairlie-Poplar.
To end this confusion, the City has asked the ADNA to prepare
a plan for Fairlie-Poplar showing where and when we could
like on-street parking, loading zones, etc. Therefore, on
Saturday, July 26, 2003 , I am organizing a walk-through
of Fairlie-Poplar so that we can identify locations for on-street
parking and on-street loading (including hours) for submittal
to the City. We will meet at 11:00 am at Blue
Cloud Coffee (123 Luckie Street) and proceed from
there. I expect the walk-through to take no more than two
hours.
I hope you can make it.
Regards,
Caleb Racicot
