First ADNA Meeting of 2008 - January 8, 6:30pm - Don't Miss It!

Don't miss our first meeting of 2008 - January 8, 6:30pm at the Downtown Library - which is also the first public commentary opportunity on Streetcar Atlanta and the Peachtree Corridor improvements as noted in the AJC article this week.  A presentation in the auditorium followed by focus group study will provide a valuable opportunity for residential input in funding and design decisions.  Urban Collage, consultant on this exciting project, The Peachree Corridor Partnership, will also provide refreshments.  Please pass this along to everyone you know who lives in the affected area!

The meeting will also have a short promo by the new WNBA and Five Points Neighborhood Watch.

Thank You to ADNA Holiday Party Sponsors!

Over 100 ADNA members and guests enjoyed a festive evening at our Dec. 13 event, with generous donations from Olympia Prime, The Mark, The Corner Bakery, Golden Buddha, Georgia Aquarium, The Ellis Hotel, STATS, Theatrical Outfit, SOPS on Ellis, The Rialto, Sweet Auburn Curb Market, Peasant Bistro, No Mas, Taffanee Florist, City of Peace, George Skaroulis Music, and Rejuvenate Spa.   Special thanks to party planner Steve Kamishlian and to all who attended, bringing Toys for Tots and donations for the AARF Giving Tree!

Next ADNA Happy Hour - 6:00 pm Friday January 25 (venue TBA) with Castleberry Hill Neighborhood Association and Marietta Street Artery Association!

In the spirit of the season (some of us never quit) we're extending our Happy Hour to include our friends in nearby Downtown neighborhoods!  Put the date on your calendar and plan to be there - it's going to be a fun location! (More details soon.)

19th Annual New Years Peach Drop @Underground Atlanta - Plan Ahead!

Day/Date/Time: December 31, 2007 12 pm- 4am
Location: Underground Atlanta and Woodruff Park
Estimated Attendance: 50,000-75,000

This is your opportunity to plan ahead for the fun and mayhem living downtown brings on New Year's Eve as Underground presents the Annual Peach Drop!  Central Atlanta Progress has made a printable flier (see ADNA website) for your dashboard to strengthen your credibility with APD when you say you really do live downtown.  Please use it and don't drive when/where they've asked you not to!  If you can park before 5pm on 12/31 they will appreciate it.  APD has provided a map with road closures and pedestrian bag-check perimeter.  If you are parking in a garage within the red no-drive zone, enter at the nearest point to your garage (FYI no one will be driving east on Marietta Street after 5pm.) Streets lined in red are open for traffic as usual.  As in years' past, don't BYO within the dotted lines or it will be confiscated!

Five Points Neighborhood Watch Organizational Meeting Jan. 12

APD, MARTA Police, 911 representatives and Atlanta Public Works representatives are scheduled to attend this meeting at the Downtown Library (Carnegie and Forsyth) from 10 am to 12 noon.  Led by Detective Swoopes, this is a great opportunity to learn how involved and observant citizens can make their neighborhoods safer. Although this Watch will focus on Metropolitan Lofts, Gordon Lofts, SoMar and Kessler, all are welcome to attend to learn how these public safety entities work together.  Corner Bakery will provide refreshments!  For more information contact John Mount at 404-516-3181.
