College Football is BACK!

FINALLY, this Saturday, Aug. 30 you can be one of those silly fans in the background wearing paint and making a spectacle of yourself as Chick-fil-A Bowl and ESPN kick off College Football in Atlanta with a day full of activities! ESPN's College GameDay, with Chris Fowler, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard will be in Centennial Olympic Park from 10am - noon, breaking down all the big match-ups of the first Saturday of the season, including the sold out (8pm ABC) Alabama-Clemson game at the Georgia Dome! All fans are invited to a day-long celebration of the 2008 season. From noon to 6pm fans can enjoy two entertainment areas featuring interactive games and other activities where fans can eat, drink, pass and kick away the hours prior to the game while experiencing the ESPN-branded entertainment that follows the GameDay crew around the country. The event is free to the public.
ESPN's College Football Live show will also originate from the Park beginning Thursday, Aug. 28 at 3:30 p.m. and again on Friday, Aug. 29 at 3:30 p.m. Live segments from Atlanta will contribute to a three-hour SportsCenter special from 12 - 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Atlanta Needs Your Input to Address its Transportation Needs

ADNA encourages you to provide your input on the region's critical transportation needs through a new survey.  The public can give feedback on traffic congestion and other transportation issues as part of Governor Perdue's Investing in Tomorrow's Transportation Today (IT3) effort.

People often ask how they can make a difference in these policy discussions - this is your chance. If you're tired of having to plan you day around a commute that gets longer every year; if your business has trouble finding or keeping employees because of traffic congestion; if you want expanded alternatives to sitting in traffic; or if you are just tired of wasting time and gas, and missing time with your family - - go to this site and let the state's leaders know how you feel!

It takes less than 2 minutes to register your opinion on this issue. We won't achieve action unless each of us demands it.  We encourage you to provide your input regarding congestion, transportation funding, and recommendations for addressing transit, bicycle, pedestrian, and roadway access and mobility needs.

A New Reason to Revisit the Georgia Aquarium!

How long has it been since you've been to the Georgia Aquarium?  The newest marquee addition is Nandi, the first manta ray to ever be in a US aquarium, making Georgia Aquarium one of only four aquariums in the world to house them. Nandi was rescued from shark nets off the coast of Durban, South Africa and rehabilitated by uShaka Marine World, the largest marine park in Africa. She has lived in uShaka for the past year, educating and inspiring conservation in more than 500,000 people. Manta rays are the largest rays in the sea, but Nandi was very young and small when she was rescued at just eight feet across. In just one year, she doubled in weight and outgrew her 580,000 gallon exhibit. In order to raise world-wide awareness about manta rays, Georgia Aquarium and uShaka created an international partnership to bring Nandi on a 9,000-mile journey from South Africa to her new 6.3 million gallon home in the world's largest exhibit, Ocean Voyager. Come visit Nandi and also see the new Titanic Exhibit on temporary display!
