Dear ADNA List Subscriber,

Below are a few reminders and FYIs related to the Atlanta Downtown Neighborhood Association and Downtown Atlanta -- including a fun switch-up to our usual neighborhood Happy Hours - THIS FRIDAY!
ADNA News & Events

Special Happy Hour July 20 at The William Oliver Scenic Rooftop!

All downtown residents are invited to a BYO hosted by the William Oliver HOA (32 Peachtree St NW) on their beautiful (and for rent!) rooftop for this Friday's July 20 ADNA Happy Hour.  Starting at 6:30pm, buzz in (000), sign in and head up to the roof!

With the help of Central Atlanta Progress, The William Oliver HOA has collaborated with several restaurants to bring you this exciting twist on the monthly Happy Hour.  Several Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week participants (including Dailey's, City Grill and Ray's in the City) have graciously offered to supply tastings. So come hungry and BYO drinks.  Glass bottles can be poured in the nearby kitchen, cups provided; no glass on the rooftop please.

Mark your calendars for the next ADNA Community meeting August 14,
when The Morsberger Group will take us on a tour of the former Bank of America Building at 222 Mitchell Street, in the heart of the new Railroad District! This Adaptive Reuse project will house condominiums and street level retail.  More details and directions to follow!

Thanks for a Successful July Meeting at Barry Real Estate Offices!

Thanks to all who participated in this month's meeting, once again we showed Barry Real Estate and Post Properties that we have an enthusiastic and committed mass of residents who need a grocery store!  Delicious appetizers were provided by F.A.B. (French American Brasserie) and everyone got to see stunning architectural models and the new look of Centennial Hill.  To further show your support for this exciting project, please email Peggy McCormick, President of the Atlanta Development Authority at pmccormick@atlantadna.com and your City council members to show your support for this new development as Barry Real Estate applies to be included in the Westside Tax Allocation District!

Downtown Atlanta has a Private Police Force?

This was a quote in an AJC article this week that said that Downtown Atlanta had a private police force.  If you were wondering about this, the reporter was referring to the ADID and the expansion of Ambassadors and Clean Team into the Railroad District.

According to CAP's AJ Robinson and enforcement officials, numerous arrests for petty crimes have already been made by the APD and the environmental impact of trash removal, graffiti eradication, pressure washing, shrubbery trimming and overall cleanliness has made residents and business owners happy with the early impacts of the expansion of ADID's program into the Railroad District.

Carriages and their Natural Consequences

Those charming carriages carrying tourists through our lovely city often leave behind unsightly and unwelcome gifts.  While the horses are required to wear "diapers" to prevent this, the timely removal and disposal has been discretionary up to now.  Downtown neighbor and ADNA member, Patti Clark has begun a dialogue with CAP, city officials, the carriage companies and interested parties to establish and enforce standards for keeping our streets clean.  If you are interested in supporting her efforts or want to be included in future meetings on the subject, please contact her at p_clark@biltmorecomm.com
