Work Resumes on Peachtree
Crosswalks
Some
of you may have already seen or heard that the previously delayed construction
work related to the installation of new traffic signals on Peachtree Street has
begun again. Crews are now in the area trenching across Peachtree Street
near Walton and Poplar Streets to install equipment related to the signal poles
that have been in place for a while. Work should proceed continuously at
this point resulting in the complete installation and operation of signals within
several weeks. Should you have any
questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact Jennifer Ball at jball@centralatlantaprogress.org
SPI-1 Zoning Change for
Downtown!
In
short, this is city legislation that will create a more sensible cohesion to the
downtown, encouraging new construction and renovation for a more pedestrian
friendly city. (Read: wider sidewalks,
streetscaping and window-shopping as you stroll.) Do your homework for a vote to support SPI-1 zoning changes at the June
12 ADNA meeting. For an overview with pictures and plans as presented at the last ADNA and NPU-M meetings, see SPI-1 draft text and maps
