Thanks to All Festival Volunteers and Participants

This year the Festival hosted nearly 5000 guests during a flawless sun-filled weekend.  Almost 750 took the Loft Tour, some visiting the city for the first time, many were metro-Atlanta residents looking to relocate or just get to know the neighborhood.  Festival Co-chairs Beth Haynes, Chris Raffield and Deb Day want to thank everyone who volunteered during the Kickoff Party and Festival weekend for making this event such a success.  Also, special thanks to the entire Festival Steering Committee for their months-long planning and commitment.  For those who saw how cool this was and are interested in being more involved next year, please watch for organizing events next Fall!

Work Resumes on Peachtree Crosswalks

Some of you may have already seen or heard that the previously delayed construction work related to the installation of new traffic signals on Peachtree Street has begun again.  Crews are now in the area trenching across Peachtree Street near Walton and Poplar Streets to install equipment related to the signal poles that have been in place for a while.  Work should proceed continuously at this point resulting in the complete installation and operation of signals within several weeks.  Should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact Jennifer Ball at jball@centralatlantaprogress.org

SPI-1 Zoning Change for Downtown!

In short, this is city legislation that will create a more sensible cohesion to the downtown, encouraging new construction and renovation for a more pedestrian friendly city.  (Read: wider sidewalks, streetscaping and window-shopping as you stroll.) Do your homework for a vote to support SPI-1 zoning changes at the June 12 ADNA meeting.  For an overview with pictures and plans as presented at the last ADNA and NPU-M meetings, see SPI-1 draft text and maps  Questions?
