While much of the renovation from the damage caused by the tornado is underway, the impact of the storm lingers on.  Many of our downtown restaurants have been impacted by the street closings.  Please support them through this period by dining with them when you can. Feel free to share this "working list" with your employees and others who may wish to support our restaurant community.

Gas Line Repairs and Partial Street Closings
Atlanta Gas Light (AGL) has begun to replace old pipes underneath streets and will continue through August 30, 2008. The AGL Pipe Replacement Program is part of a 15 year project to replace more than 2,300 miles of bare steel and cast-iron natural gas pipeline infrastructure in Georgia. To insure the safety and reliability of Atlanta Gas Light's natural gas pipeline system, older pipes are being replaced with state-of-the-art plastic and steel pipes.  Work will be done in phases. Although no streets will be fully closed, expect temporary inconveniences (lane & sidewalk closures, congestion, etc.) on the following streets:

Nelson Street
Spring Street
Forsyth Street
Pryor Street
Trinity Avenue
Garnett Street
Castleberry Street
Mitchell Street
Central Avenue
Brotherton Street

AGL will strive to minimize any impact in the downtown area during construction. Please call 404-584-3039 or email pipelinereplacements@aglresources.com for more information.
