Don't Leave Valuables in Your Cars!


Deputy Chief Andresen spoke to the press last week on the increase of vehicle break-ins in the downtown area. The criminals are focusing on valuables left in plain-view in victim's vehicles. He stated that it doesn't matter where the vehicles are parked at, criminals will find some kind of way to break in the vehicles and take the valuables. Officers and Detectives have been able to make some key arrests in some of the cases. APD has also broken up a small ring that was stealing laptops and selling them on the Internet. Deputy Chief Andresen stated that APD wanted to make sure that citizens take proactive measures to safeguard themselves from becoming a victim.

The Great AWP FREEZE Sat. April 26, 1pm at COP!

Does anyone remember playing Statue-Tag?  This Saturday come watch over 100 members of the Atlanta Workshop Players who will freeze in mid-action at the same instant for 10 minutes.  It's a cool media moment designed to draw attention to the Arts. The freeze will actually happen at 1 pm.  At 1:10 pm everyone will break the freeze and go about their business as if nothing happened, leaving the audience amazed, stunned and mesmerized.  As a bonus, a Family Fun Day celebrating the Arts will be taking place in the park at that time.

Tour de Georgia Rides Again in Downtown Atlanta, Sunday April 27

The last leg of the Tour de Georgia starts and finishes in Centennial Olympic Park again this year.  Watch for the cyclists (and street closings) from 1pm to 5pm.  For detailed Stage 7 route map, go to the Tour de Georgia Website!

Godspell at The Balzer Theater at Herren's April 16-May 11

Relive the 70's (or see it again for the first time) as Theatrical Outfit presents the classic "Godspell!"  Performances are Wednesday through Saturday night at 7:30pm, matinees Sunday at 2:30pm.  Tickets are $30 and can be purchased through the box office by calling 678-528-1500 or online.

Earth Day Clean Up Projects in Atlanta
Keep Atlanta Beautiful Greener Atlanta Initiative, in partnership with the City of Atlanta and Atlanta's Beltline, is preparing for their 2008 Earth Day celebration to include e-waste recycling on April 26th from 9am to 1pm at Turner Field.  For accepted items visit their website!
