Happy Hour THIS Friday, January 23

Our first Happy Hour of 2009 is a joint get together with our neighbors in Marietta Street Artery Association at Rise Sushi Lounge on Marietta Street in the revitalized Marietta Luckie District!  Owner Michael Lui has offered free appetizers from their sushi menu and door prizes to a lucky winner.  Cash bar, starting at 6:30-8:30pm.

Atlanta Hawks ADNA Night

Half Price tickets for the Friday, January 30 Hawks vs NJ Nets game are available now! Tickets are regularly priced from $30 -$70. Next ADNA Community Meeting: Tuesday, February 10 at the Tabernacle.  Tour this historic and recently renovated building following a meeting with city updates from District 2 City Councilmember Kwanza Hall and APD's Zone 5 Commander, Major Khirus Williams.

Ways You can become informed about Public Safety

Atlantans Together Against Crime & Cutbacks (ATACC) has been established in response to a recent wave of violent crime. Please add your name to the ATACC mailing list and join their Facebook Group to help raise awareness to the rise in violent crime as well as to take action with Atlanta's lawmakers.

The Mayor agrees that that the city needs more police officers NOW and has announced that she will add 200 more officers before her term ends.  It is probably an unrealistic goal but one that must be initiated.  For more information on APD's numbers and the Atlanta Police Foundation's recommendations for APD, read the article at ADNA's website.


New: Regular Posting for NPU-M meeting and Public Safety meeting Info

The Neighborhood Planning Unit we live among is called NPU-M and meets monthly on the 4th Monday at 6:30pm. This is the forum for community involvement before issues, licenses and any zoning changes go to the city for approval.  If there are issues you feel strongly about, you are a voting member after attending (and signing in at) three meetings.  The January 26 meeting will be at the King Center auditorium but future meetings will be at a new permanent location TBD. 

ADNA is represented at the Public Safety Meeting by Michael Bonacuse mbonacuse@earthlink.net but it is also open to the public and chaired by ADNA's Dorthey Hurst.
