Dear ADNA List Subscriber,

If you're off on Monday, take time to visit the Old Fourth Ward and historic Martin Luther King district, celebrating the life of Martin Luther King Jr!   While you're in the neighborhood, have coffee and a piece of cake with ADNA friend, David Sweeney at his Dynamic Dish (427 Edgewood between Jackson and Boulevard), open this Monday from 11am to 4pm. For those who celebrate MLK Day by volunteering, Centennial Olympic Park will need help taking down their holiday lights between 9am and 1pm!

Next ADNA Meeting:  Tuesday, Feb. 12 at The Candler Building

We have lined up Dave Wilkinson, CEO and President of the Atlanta Police Foundation and Reed Galli, the Director of Operation Shield to speak at the next ADNA Community Meeting, Feb. 12 at the Candler Building (1st floor) at 6:30pm.  Zone 5 Atlanta Police Department representative will also attend.  Please make sure all of your building managers and HOA presidents know of this meeting, as they will be the folks most likely to be able to work directly with the Foundation and coordinate with Atlanta Police Department. Operation Shield is the Foundation's program that connects private security cameras and their security officers with APD so they can augment APD's effectiveness.   Residents can show their support by attending this meeting and encouraging their building managers to attend and then form a cooperative liaison with APD in security matters.

Downtown Festival & Tour needs a Volunteer Coordinator!

The ADNA Downtown Festival & Tour Steering Committee is still looking for a volunteer to coordinate THE VOLUNTEERS!  This person will inherit an extremely organized portfolio of notes and willing volunteers from previous chairman Ginny Ubik (who is used to organizing whole countries for CARE!)  Next meeting: Wed. Feb 6 at the Healey Bldg lower level, 7:30pm.

For those who attended any of the Peachtree Streetcar community presentations, please take the time to let District 2 City Councilmember, Kwanza Hall know your opinions!  Your thoughts on current funding and operating options, and pros and cons are appreciated as he makes his recommendations to the City Council.

Good news for the former Macy's Building

According to Central Atlanta Progress president, A.J. Robinson, while the final closing has not yet happened, it appears that the long-vacant 180 Peachtree retail space is under contract. CAP expects to see a presentation on what the potential new owners envision for this prime Peachtree Street space.  Watch for an announcement!
