Downtown crime:
By the numbers, not perceptions

July 25, 2004

This Friday, Central Atlanta Progress held a Town Hall breakfast to review the most recent statistics on crime in Downtown Atlanta.

For those who live and work Downtown, and are committed to changing mistaken public perceptions of Downtown, the presentation contained lots of good news. According to CAP, Downtown Atlanta hosts the largest daily population in Metro Atlanta, more than 200,000 people, but accounts for only eight percent of the city's total crime. Most of these crimes are not crimes against individuals.

To access the full presentation, visit the article, Downtown: Single Digits In Citywide Crime Comparison, on the CAP/ADID web site.
