The popular coffeeshop that was Luckie Street Coffee (and before that, Sacred
Grounds) has moved to new ownership and become Blue Cloud Coffee.
The new owners, George and Bích Vân McIntyre,
have an existing business selling Blue Cloud Coffee, which
uses beans from her family plantation in Vietnam -- check
out the pictures in the store to see exactly what coffee beans
look like in the fields or read this great article from The
Story: "West
Side importers bring taste of Vietnam to Atlanta."
The coffee is strong, good stuff.
The McIntyres are very excited about being a neighborhood
business and even though they just took over a week ago and
officially bought the business today, they are already doing
a lot to really get things going. For one thing, they have
changed the shop's hours so it's now open 7 a.m. - 10 p.m.
EVERY DAY! Apparently the new schedule is already serving
a need, as all this week there have been people in there at
all times during the day. (You don't have to get a drink to
visit, BTW, they say "Even if your not drinkin, we're always
open for just sittin and thinkin'.")
Another change is that the owners are really interested in
finding out is there is any particular niche they can fill
as far as special food items (sandwiches, pastries, etc.)
or other functions. Neighbors are invited to make suggestions
at the shop (123 Luckie St.) or by emailing bluecloudcoffee@mindspring.com.
