Downtown Festival spotlights city living spirit

The Atlanta Downtown Neighborhood Association (ADNA) will host the
Atlanta Downtown Festival and Tour of Homes this Saturday and Sunday. The events closes streets of the historic Fairlie-Poplar neighborhood to vehicular traffic and opens the area for a multi-block festival celebrating local and regional music, family activities and an artist market. Toohey’s Trolleys will provide shuttle service to over a half-dozen residential buildings on the Tour of Homes. The festival encompasses Walton, Broad, Forsyth and Luckie streets. It is free and open to the public. Two stages provide continuous entertainment from bands and cultural troupes.

The Atlanta Downtown Festival and Tour welcomed visitors to the city, suburban dwellers and Atlanta residents alike with warmth, despite the drizzle that fell Sunday afternoon. The event took place over three days, beginning with the first matches of a beach volleyball tournament on Friday, and offered an artist market, face painting for children, tours of a number of lofts and apartments in the historic Fairlie Poplar and Centennial Hill districts and samples of cuisine from some of the city's premier restaurants.
