If you’re interested in attending the Police Academy from October 1st to November 12, 2014 please fill out the attached application, and send it along with a good copy of a government-issued document, signed by a notary, to Atlantacops@atlantaga.gov

The deadline for applications is September 19, 2014.  Criminal background checks will be conducted.

Broad Street SW Planning Workshop Follow-Up – Saturday, August 9th

Many of you spent a warm Saturday this past April talking about the future of the Broad Street SW corridor with a group of professional planners who were in Atlanta at the American Planning Association conference. It has been too long since the workshop and it is time to reconvene the group of local stakeholders to review the recommendations of the group and strategize about next steps for collaborative action.

New Stadium Project: Statnamic Load Test

Project: The project is the New Stadium Project.

Project Facts: Holder, Hunt, Russell, Moody (HHRM) will be conducting a Statnamic Load Test for a deep foundation drilled pier. This test will last approximately a half second and the immediately surrounding areas may hear a loud sound.

Potential Testing Date: Between Thursday, June 5th and Wednesday , June 11th 2014

Time Range: During the afternoon: 1pm until 5pm

Location: Within the construction site

Safety First Notes: This is an active construction site and for safety reasons, HHRM does not encourage spectators. HHRM will notify and coordinate efforts with the Atlanta Police and Fire Departments

Atlanta Police Seeking Participants for the Citizens Police Academy

The Atlanta Police Department is seeking participants for the Spring 2014 Citizens Police Academy. As theDepartment strives for transparency in its operations, the Citizens Police Academy provides a hands-on opportunity to educate the citizens of Atlanta on the operations of the Department while obtaining valuable feedback from citizens to enhance police and community relations.

 

The course will begin April 30, 2014 and will take place every Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. through June 11, 2014  Classes are held at the Herbert T. Jenkins Atlanta Police Academy, 180 Southside Industrial Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia 30354.  The Citizens Police Academy will include over 30 hours of instruction with classroom courses in crime scenes, a department overview and a zone ride-a-long.

Interested citizens can request an application by emailing Atlantacops@atlantaga.gov  Once completed they can email them back or mail them to Lt. Antonio Clay Atlanta Police Department Community Liaison Unit 226 Peachtree St NW Atlanta, Ga. 30303

The deadline for application is Friday, April 18,2014.  Participants must be a resident of the metropolitan Atlanta area, be at least 21 years old, and have no felony or misdemeanor convictions within one year of application.  A standard background check will be completed.
