are minutes for the Oct. 11, 2000, meeting of the Atlanta
Downtown Neighborhood Association. Notes were written by Wendy
Darling.
6:30-7 p.m. Networking/Social
We would like to start meetings earlier, at 6:45 p.m., but this month we
decided to ease people into it. Our December meeting (the next one after
the Town Hall Meeting), will start at 6:45 p.m.
7-8:30 p.m. Meeting

- News update: Marietta Street is keeping its name.
- News update: Noise ordinance still making its way through City Hall
- News update: Fountains at Woodruff Park and Hurt Park are ON for first time in 1 1/2 years!
- News update: Owners of Sacred Grounds and Heaping Bowl likely opening new business at 123 Luckie!
- DNA news: Peachtree Center working with DNA on "welcome baskets" for new residents
- DNA news: Peachtree Center working with DNA on possible "Downtowner's Card"
- DNA news: DNA president and other attend Community Building seminar
- DNA news: Email list has 100+ subscribers, web site going strong

Historical Issues
As promised at the meeting, here is a listing of "historical issues" facing residents Downtown. This list was compiled by DNA President Erich Starrett based on notes at past DNA meetings and executive meetings. These issues will be discussed at next month's Town Hall Meeting (check your email for previous DNA emails on the subject).
Streetscape / Streets
Potholes / metal plates in streets for extended periods
Lack of Pedestrian friendly walkways
Potential for Downtown Trolley?
Parks
Loitering
Open drug use/exchange - lack of police enforcement
Lack of fences
Cleanliness (Waste from dogs / humans, trash, state of greenery)
Enforcing closing time
Noise
Trains blowing horns at odd hours through non-traffic, residential areas
People with megaphones
Vending
Lack of variety in street vendor offerings
Lack of enforcement (still many vendors with random set-ups)
Comprehensive vending plan (introduced in 99, but little progress since then)
Business
Lacking weekend / weeknight hours
Parking
Towing from 15 minute spots in front of residences
Police aggressive w/tickets during hours when only a few cars (residents) are parked
Downtown resident stickers for cars?
Cruising
Putting up barricades
